Offshore Sailing PAssages and Transatlantic Crossings

Hesper’s 2024 and 2025 offshore sailing season schedule has been posted. Our offshore sailing opportunities require no experience, instead we prioritize a willingness to adventure, and be apart of the team. Our fall 2024 Southbound transit has all legs available for booking. Our season culminates with a 2025 Atlantic Crossing where we will return Hesper to her home in Cornwall for a summer season.

We require a basic level of physical fitness to join this passages. In general, we make 4 bunks available for each leg. This is a offshore learning opportunity with professional crew. You are paired with crew for watches learning all aspects of helming, navigation, sail handling and more.

Our Southbound transit season includes legs from Camden Maine all the way down to Key West Florida. Our 2025 Atlantic Crossing brings us from Florida to Bermuda, crossing to the Azores and then to Cornwall.

Who we are.

Our ethos is simple. We provide curated sailing experiences to those willing. Our Maine Windjammer Expeditions are for everyone. Our 4 day 3 night expeditions are full of adventure. Our experiences range from Turner Farm Barn suppers, to rock climbing adventures with Equinox Climbing. We provide these experiences to show the world that sailing aboard these wooden boats is very much alive.

Age and experience matter not- just a willingness to go with the flow and adventure. We ask that our passengers and guests be mobile and in good health. Other than that, it’s the attitude that makes the difference.

Hesper is a 60’ Pilot Cutter built by Luke Powell and his company Working Sail in 2004. She’s been all over. She’s cruised Scotland, ventured to the Arctic, and been down to the Azores. She’s rested in the Baltic, and her main homeport was Prime Cellars in Fowey Cornwall.

Shes large, heavily framed and planked and the perfect expedition vessel.

Other activites

  • Hiking + Island exploration

They say you could cruise for 30 years in Penobscot Bay and not go to the same island twice. After a day of sailing, we love stretching our legs on island. Whether its walking through a meadow, or beachcombing for seaglass.

  • Visit unique + Beautiful coastal villages

Dotted along the coastline and islands are some of the most beautiful small towns and communities that you’ve ever seen. From the fisherman’s community of Stonington, to the artist enclave and Andrew Wyeth inspiration of Monhegan Island.

  • Hands on sailing experience

Learn the basics of sailing a traditional wooden sailing vessel. We encourage guests to get as involved as their comfort level allows. Some guests prefer a totally hands on experience, while others like to sit back and just enjoy whats around them.
